However, in southern regions, like New South Wales and Victoria, their presence might be more pronounced during the warmer months when water temperatures are conducive to their migration and feeding patterns.

 

SIZE AND WEIGHT 

On average, Longtail tuna can reach lengths of 3 to 4 feet (about 0.9 to 1.2 meters) and weigh between 30 to 60 pounds (approximately 14 to 27 kilograms). However, some individuals can grow even larger, with reports of specimens exceeding 80 pounds (36 kilograms).

 

COOKING METHOD 

Poach, pan-fry, stir-fry, bake, braise, grill, barbecue, smoke, pickle. The firm flesh holds together well in soups, curries and casseroles and can be cubed for kebabs.
